voice treatment for parkinson’s disease

Our speech pathologists are trained in the Parkinson Voice Project's SPEAK OUT!® program, an evidence-based voice treatment designed specifically for people living with Parkinson's disease. The program focuses on using intentional, strong vocalisation to improve vocal loudness, speech clarity and overall communication confidence.

SPEAK OUT!® consists of 12 individual therapy sessions, typically delivered 2 to 3 times per week, alongside daily home practice. Following completion of the program, clients can continue maintaining their voice through our online Loud Voice Maintenance Group, providing regular practice in a supportive and social environment.

EXPLORING ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGIES

It’s our aim to ensure that communication changes don’t prevent you from staying connected with the people and activities that matter most.

Our speech pathologists are experienced in the assessment, recommendation and support with a range of Assistive Technology (AT) options to help maintain communication as needs change over time. Recommendations are tailored to each person's abilities, goals and lifestyle, from simple low-tech supports through to high-tech speech generating and eye-gaze devices.

We can assist with:

+ Communication books, boards and visual supports
+ Speech generating devices and communication apps
+ Voice banking and message banking where appropriate
+ Exploring eye-gaze technology
+ Training for family members, carers and support workers
+ Assistive Technology assessments (and NDIS supporting documentation)

Introducing communication supports early allows individuals and their support network time to become familiar with the technology, helping to maximise confidence, independence and participation throughout the progression of their condition.
